At the end of the first study year, students of the two-year master programme must prepare a research project. The aim of the research project is to prepare master students to conduct real-life academic studies. Simultaneously, the course is aimed at helping students to begin building their own academic profile. Research projects can be prepared in pairs or individually. The objective of the research project is for students to provide an article that is accepted by an academic or professional journal, a research platform, or online paper series. Such an article could be published in a journal Jurista Vārds, RGSL Research Paper Series or if the students and the supervisor agree could be submitted to another professional or academic journal. Each group of students is assigned a supervisor. However, since it is expected that the students perform independent research, a supervisor’s role is limited to providing general suggestions and controlling the students’ output. The paper prepared during the course can be written in English or Latvian.
