This course examines the concept of treaty, the various kinds of treaties and the sources of the law of treaties. It also covers the field of treaty application nationally and internationally. Further, the course will explore the process of treaty-making, namely, powers to conclude treaties, credentials and adoption of treaties. It will also explore how treaties are amended and how treaties become invalid. The course will examine the issue of “consent to be bound” by the treaty, the making of reservations and interpretative declarations.
