CREDITS 2 (LV) 3 (ECTS) - 30 Contact Hours

The course is prepared to introduce students to concepts and issues in the area of professional ethics, with a primary focus on legal ethics, business ethics, and the ethics of international relations/diplomacy. The course provides an overview of main parameters of ethical consideration as well as key ethical values, principles and underlying theories of ethics. It moreover aims at fostering familiarity with specific problem areas and standards in each of the abovementioned areas of professional ethics in a national, European and global perspective. Formal ethics procedures, concepts and theoretical principles are illustrated using practical examples. After completing the course, the students should be able to analyse ethically complicated situations and to be in a position to develop possible solutions based on established ethical principles and standards. The course consists of lectures and interactive seminars.
