CREDITS 2 (LV) 3 (ECTS) - 30 Contact Hours

The course will cover fundamental intellectual property concepts. The students will be introduced to the concepts of the main IP subject matters involving the protection of copyright, trademarks, designs, patents and modern subject matters. The issues arising from the protection of industrial property in view of the EU internal market rules will be covered more extensively, as well as biotechnology law. The main EU and international legal instruments on IP matters will be pointed out and discussed where required.

The course consists of lectures and seminars. Lectures in a particular topic will be followed by one or more seminars, which aim at developing the students’ problem solving skills. For seminars students are expected to analyse and discuss real and fictional cases.
