CREDITS 2 (LV) 3 (ECTS) - 30 Contact Hours

This course introduces the main aspects and principles of the regulatory framework of international business that is covered by international trade law and international investment protection law.

Firstly, the course aims to explain the basic elements of the World Trade Organisation, the mechanism for the solution of trade disputes, and the main principles of trade in goods and trade in services and some more specialised agreements.

Secondly, it aims to introduce students with the key elements of foreign investment protection law and settlement of investment disputes.

The course consists of lectures and seminars. Lectures in a particular topic will be followed by one or more seminars, which aim at developing the students’ problem solving skills. For seminars students are expected to analyze and discuss real and fictional cases.
