The course Introduction to Moot court is intended to give an introduction on how to participate in moot court competitions. It will give practical knowledge of how to prepare a written memorial and how to present an argument before the court. In case of sufficient enthusiasm and skills on behalf of the students, the objective of the course is a successful participation of a team of the Riga Graduate School of Law in the European Human Rights Moot Court competition. Hence the course will represent a hybrid between a selection of a team for the competition, preparing for the said competition and learning the skills required for a successful participation in moot courts.

This course will elaborate on students’ research skills and oral argumentation skills. Students will be required to write and submit several written memorials and to practice presenting their argument before a court.
