CREDITS 2 (LV) 3 (ECTS) - 30 Contact Hours

The course deals with the fundamental concepts and principles of employment (labour) law in the various legal systems. It examines the legal issues related to:
1) individual labour law (e.g. individual employment contract conclusion, amendment and termination (including dismissal), wage models and minimum wage determnation, working time, employees’ liability, employer’s principal duties,  individual labour dispute settlement etc.;
2) collective labour law (e.g. social dialogue, collective bargaining and collective dispute settlement, including industrials actions (demonstrations, strikes and lock-outsunisons,etc)).;
3) International  and European employment law (ILO instruments, conflicts law, labour standards in the WTO), with special emphasis on EU labour law;
4) Knot points of labour law: posting, transferts of undertakings, intellectual property,fair and unfair dismissals; discrimination cases (gender, age, race etc.).
