This course will provide an understanding of basic concepts of EU law.  In particular it will focus on constitutional and administrative aspects of EU law.  The course will examine the historical development of the Union, its institutional structure and the main legal principles and doctrines including the General Principles, Supremacy, Direct Effect, State Liability, the Preliminary Reference Procedure and the Enforcement Action.  The course will also provide a brief overview of the internal market, aspects of which students will be able to study in more detail in other courses throughout the Master’s study programme.
